I received great feedback following my fall favourites blog-post so I decided to do a winter edition.
Winter is 100% my favourite season and it’s not just because of my birthday and Christmas. It’s the time of year that we pull out our cosy scarves and jumpers, curl up by the fire, spend time with our families and attend many parties. I have come across quite a few new products and things in the past few months that I’m super excited to share with you. Hopefully you might find something in this post that you would like to try. I’d also love for you to share you favourite things at the moment with me and I might give them a try. So here’s what I’ve been loving this winter
The Happy Pear Bars: I am a huge fan of The Happy Pear for both their recipes and their products. These bars were released last year, and I did purchase them a few times then but recently I’ve become addicted as I was diagnosed with coeliac disease and they are a great gluten free snack option. My absolute favourite is the raw energy bar because it is coated with chocolate and who wouldn’t love that?!?!
Deliciously Ella Bircher Muesli: As I shared in my fall favourites, porridge is one of my all-time favourite foods. The only downside to porridge is that it takes quite some time to make which isn’t ideal when you are in a rush to go somewhere. This product is the perfect quick brekkie for porridge lovers as it resembles overnight oat when you add a liquid due to the oats being so finely milled. For a quick porridge you can heat up some milk and stir it in and you’re sorted.
Oatly Barista Edition: I switched out cow’s milk for plant based options a few years back when I realised that it was contributing to my facial acne. I really enjoy nut milks and coconut milk but I never found a good replacement to dairy when it came to adding it to my coffee. I first heard about Oatly Barista Edition when Venetia Falconer spoke about it online and I think I’m in love. It is so creamy and delicious and makes for a great hot cuppa!
Grey’s Anatomy: I used to love this show a few years back but stopped following it in my last few years of school when schoolwork began to take over my life. This show brings my so much joy and great memories of my childhood as it has been around for so long. I started the show from season 1 when the weather began to get colder as I wasn’t in the form to start a new series and I’m almost up to date with it. It’s one of those classic shows that you can’t help but love.
The Foreigner: I’m quite a big fan of action movies and when I spotted this film on Netflix I knew I was in for a treat. Jackie Chan and Pierce Brosnan star in this film which depicts the comeback of a new IRA group who begin to plant bombs. Brosnan plays a character who has very obvious similarities to Gerry Adams and Chan is a father of one of the bombing victims. The stunts in this movie are out of this world and the storyline is epic!
Child’s Farm Moisturiser: I was very keen to try this children’s moisturiser after seeing multiple articles online about how it had worked to clear up terrible skin conditions. I suffer with acne and flaky skin and I must say that I’m well impressed with this product. It worked to clear up my worst patches on my face as well as my arms and it lasts a very long time. I purchased it for roughly four euro back in October and I still have half a container left despite using it on a daily basis.
Aroma Diffuser: This is probably my favourite product discovery of the season. I received my aroma diffuser as a Christmas gift from my parents alongside a bottle of lavender oil. You simply fill the diffuser with water, add a few drops of an essential oil and turn it on. I have found that the lavender oil works wonders with helping me to sleep as well as calming me when I am stressed.
The Little Green Spoon: This is a website run by the wonderful Indy Power, a cook of all things healthy and delicious. I purchased a copy of Indy’s book when It was first released and was well impressed with the variety of recipes she shared. Recently I’ve become addicted to the kitchen where I’ve been creating my own recipes as well as trying out recipes from Indy’s website. I’m mad about her chia jam recipe as well as her healthy alternative to coco pops. She has some delicious and easy plant based recipes too which came in handy for Veganuary and Meatless Mondays. I highly recommend giving the site a browse.
Douglas Farmer’s Market: This past weekend I took a trip to cork with my mom and aunt and we made a pitstop in Douglas where the farmers market was taking place. I am such a foodie so I was like a child at Christmas as soon as we arrived. I was well impressed by the huge selection of healthy options, specifically those presented by My Goodness Foods and Bean Brownie Co.. I ordered a raw carrot, apple and flax wrap filled with veggies, bean sprouts, pates and leafy veg from My Goodness foods and it was one of the most delicious meals I’ve had in a while. I bought a selection of healthy baked goods such as an ‘after eight slice’ made with peanut butter, honey, wholegrain rice and oats as well as homemade granola. If you are ever passing through Douglas on a Saturday morning It is well worth a visit.
And that’s about it for now. There are plenty of others that I’ve loved during winter but these are the ones that really stood out to me! Please let me know if there’s anything that you think is worth a look at and I’ll do my best to try it.
Until Next Time,
